Site to assess
An identified site to assess for the conditions needed to develop a BESS project.
BESS
We coordinate the development of energy storage systems integrated with the grid, the local context and the needs of the electricity system.
BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) store electricity in batteries and regulate its delivery to the grid. They support electricity system flexibility and the balance between generation and demand, including with a growing share of renewable sources.
The role of storage
The growing share of variable renewable sources makes it increasingly important for the electricity system to manage generation and demand over time.
Storage systems can absorb energy, store it and make it available again when the grid needs it.
Developing a BESS project involves more than storage technology. Site characteristics, grid connection, safety, permitting and technical and economic feasibility all contribute to defining the project.
The energy flow
BESS systems can operate in a stand-alone configuration or be integrated with a photovoltaic plant. The diagram shows the stand-alone configuration.
Energy flows from the grid into the batteries.

Integrated development
The storage system configuration takes into account site characteristics, grid connection works and the infrastructure needed to build and operate the plant.
